What is a P-Shot (or Priapus Shot)?

Before we talk about the P-Shot, let's talk about ED and the pros and cons of conventional treatments.

Erectile dysfunction is a topic that is often shrouded in taboo. For many men, the very thought of talking about ED is enough to cause anxiety and embarrassment. However, it's important to remember that erectile dysfunction is a medical condition, and treatment is available. While it can be tough to discuss ED with a healthcare provider, it's important to do so in order to get the best possible treatment.

The choice of treatment for erectile dysfunction can be a difficult one. It's important to understand the pros and cons of each option so you know which is right for your situation! Lifestyle changes, medications like Viagra or Cialis (and their side effects) injections, and surgery.

Lifestyle changes

Research has shown that exercise is effective in preventing or addressing erectile dysfunction. It's been proven to help boost blood flow, improve sexual function, and may lead you towards a longer life by reducing heart disease risk factors like smoking habits, diet choices, or regular physical activity levels.

Prescription medication

Commonly used to treat erectile dysfunction and include PDE5 inhibitors like sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis), and vardenafil (Levitra). These prescription drugs can be effective at treating the condition but they do have some side effects from headaches, nausea, dizziness, low blood pressure, and falling to heart attacks and strokes. In addition, these drugs may interact with other prescription drugs or health conditions so it is important to discuss any pre-existing illnesses before taking this type of medication for yourself especially if one suffers from heart disease, diabetes, or high blood pressure.

Another great option is testosterone therapy, which involves taking hormones either through injection or via topical gel application. While this treatment can help improve sexual function, reduce symptoms of ED, and improve mood and bone density, it's important to know that long-term use of testosterone does cause testicular shrinkage and infertility.

Penile Injections

These methods involve injecting medication directly into the corpora cavernosa of the penis. This temporarily improves the blood flow to the penis, giving you an erection, hard enough for sexual intercourse. The downside is that they can be painful, especially since you sometimes need to inject yourself every time before having sex.

Surgery

Another treatment option for erectile dysfunction ED is surgically placing penile implants or a prosthetic device in the penis that helps get an erection. However, surgery carries risks such as infection and scarring which can have negative effects on sexual function or satisfaction--you will likely still be able to satisfy your partner sexually but only enjoy minimal pleasure during sexual intercourse.

So, what is a P-Shot (or Priapus Shot)?

Look no further than the Priapus shot, also known as the P-shot. This non-surgical procedure uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) derived from your own blood to improve circulation and stimulate stem cell recruitment in the penis. That means better erections and heightened sensitivity for improved sexual performance.

But don't just take our word for it – numerous studies have shown PRP to be a successful treatment for erectile dysfunction. And with minimal downtime and little to no discomfort, there's no reason not to give the P-shot a shot (pun intended). So why suffer in silence when this simple procedure can help you Enjoy Better Sex?

What Is PRP?

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma, which is a type of regenerative autologous treatment. This means that it comes from your blood and can stimulate cellular regeneration and tissue repair because these are one of the cells in our bodies! PLATELETS ARE THE KEY TO OUR BLOOD'S HEALING PROPERTIES

Who is the ideal candidate for a P-shot® procedure?

If you're looking to enhance your sexual wellness and erections, Pshot may be the answer. It's also an excellent choice for men who suffer from EDs such as Peyronie’s Disease or those experiencing some types of Erectile Dysfunction (ED). Dr. Ibrahim, MD will assess your individual needs before tailoring the best treatment plan for you. If you have mild symptoms of ED, the P-shot can get you off your pills with just one treatment.

What Benefits Can a Man Have from the P-Shot®?

There are many benefits to having a stronger, firmer erection. These include:

  • Firmer, & stronger erections
  • Improved sexual stamina (Easier to have and maintain strong erections)
  • Increased size and girth (in 20% of people)
  • An improvement or resolution of penile curvature from Peyronie's Disease
  • Relief for erection pain caused by severe Peyronie's disease
  • Increased sensitivity and intense orgasms
  • Stronger erections will also lead to increased confidence and self-esteem.
Is the P-Shot® the Same Thing as Trimix Injections?

No. Trimix injections are a shot to produce an erection for a brief period of time, in other words, you need to inject yourself every time you need an erection. However, the P-shot® is a treatment that revives and enhances your natural erections. For most men, one P-shot usually gives great effects for a whole year, some men require two shots.

How Does the P-Shot® Work?

The tissue growth factors and proteins released from highly concentrated platelets in PRP activate stem cells. These stimulate cellular repair, and regeneration leading to the formation of new blood supply to the penis, with collagen production contributing to tissue healing as well! This cellular repair also aids in the dissolving of the scar tissue in Peyronie's disease, improving the curvature and increasing the size of the penis.

The new blood supply makes blood flow better throughout the penis, making it have harder erections for better sexual performance.

How Is PRP for the P-Shot® Acquired?

A small amount of your blood is drawn in the office at the time of the procedure. It is then spun in our FDA-cleared centrifuge, to separate the different types of blood cells. The Platelet cells are then concentrated (hence the name platelet rich plasma) and injected into the penis. We apply a high-quality numbing cream beforehand to make the whole procedure painless!

How Long Does the P-Shot® Procedure Take to Perform?

We perform Platelet Rich Plasma injections in our office, which should take about 60 minutes from start to finish, most of this 60 minutes is waiting for the numbing cream to kick in for a very comfortable procedure. You can drive yourself home after the procedure!

Does it hurt?

Better Life Clinics is committed to making sure that your procedure goes as smoothly and painlessly as possible. We provide a very high-quality numbing cream. Laughing gas (Pro-Nox) can be added (optionally) for quick relief of anxiety!

If I get the P-Shot, will I be completely cured of my Erectile Dysfunction?

Dr. Ibrahim will first do a history and physical exam, and determine how severe your Erectile dysfunction is. That P-shot may help you have a significant improvement in your erectile function but does not guarantee a complete cure (especially in very advanced ED)

Is There Anything Else That I Will Need to Do After the Procedure?

Yes. You will need to use a VED or vacuum device after the procedure for optimal success. It's quick, and you only have a few minutes of our time - so don't skip this! We'll walk you through using this device and have you use it right after the P-Shot.

When Can I Resume Sexual Activity After the P-Shot® Procedure?

You may resume sexual activity on the same day. There is practically no downtime.

Are there any complications or side effects from the procedure?

Since PRP is extracted from your own blood, there are few and only minor potential side effects. These include discomfort or bruising at the injection sites, scarring, or inconsistent results. However, these risks are relatively minor when compared with other options available for improving your sex life! Infection is extremely unlikely as we are using an FDA-Cleared, closed centrifuge system.

Are All Centrifuges the Same? Which One Do You Use?

Definitely not. The Emcyte Pure PRP® system extracts the highest concentrations of platelets on the market while simultaneously removing 99% of red blood cells (RBCs) which can hinder the regenerative process. Many other systems fall short when delivering a final injectable that is considered “platelet-rich". Unlike most competitors' equipment, this process has been completely closed throughout all steps and meets high sterility standards to ensure your safety with every injection you receive from us!

How much does it cost?

At Better Life Clinics, we only use an FDA-cleared device that ensures highly concentrated Platelet Rich Plasma PRP and prevents any infection transmission. The P-Shot costs $1,800 and includes one month's supply of AFFIRM supplements, plus Dr. Joel Kaplan’s penile pump (the only type approved by the American Urological Association). You can combine the P-Shot with Acoustic Wave treatments for a better deal, but only after being assessed by our Board Certified Medical Director.

What can someone expect from the results of a P-Shot procedure?

The results of a P-shot procedure may take from 3 weeks to up to 3 months to show noticeable effects. Those who have severe erectile dysfunction, or Peyronie's disease may need more than one P-shot to achieve desired results. The combination of two injections, acoustic wave therapy, penis pump, and Affirm supplements is sometimes necessary to achieve the desired results and get you back your confidence in the bedroom!

What should I expect before, during, and after the procedure?
Before treatment:
  • No special considerations. Just stay hydrated as we will need to draw blood from you.
During treatment:
  • Numbing cream is applied
  • A simple blood-draw from the arm. We then spin your blood in our FDA-approved centrifuge and extract high-quality concentrated PRP.
  • PRP is injected into the penis
Immediately after treatment:
  • You may experience minor swelling, bleeding, and bruising.
  • Resume normal activities as tolerated, including having sex.

The P-shot is not a permanent cure for erectile dysfunction, as the disease process that caused the ED (whether it is Aging, low Testosterone, Diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc...) is not treated by this procedure. You will need to do maintenance treatments to maintain optimal results.
